The most important question of all-time is this one:  WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The message of the gospel is the main story of the Bible.  The word “gospel” actually means “good news.” So what’s so good of the gospel?  The good news is that God planned in the very beginning of time to save us from our sins.  Before the creation of the world God knew that the people he created would reject Him and turn to their own ways and wisdom.  Before the creation of the world God knew that the people he created would despise Him and worship something other than Him.

The gospel is the greatest news because it is all about how God saves us from our sins.  He saves us from our sins through our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.  We are saved by believing the message of the gospel – that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and the sins of the entire world – past, present and future.  We aren’t saved by through our actions or good works.  We aren’t saved through having earned His favor…we aren’t saved through our good works outweighing our bad deeds…The gospel is such good news because it’s all about what God did by sending Christ to us to save us from our sins.

Our response to the gospel is 1 of 2:  1.) We joyfully place faith and believe in Jesus Christ as our atoning sacrifice for sins.    We repent of sins, believe on Christ as our Savior, and follow Christ with new hearts through faith.  2.) We reject the gospel of God, in hopes that something else will be our functional savior – ourselves, our possessions, the promise of success, etc.
